Exploring a past riddled with abuse and sexualized violence is not a pleasant task, nor is reading and writing about the dark pain that humans impose on other creatures of this world. It’s easy to get caught up in the misery and pain; to repeat the storyline of pain and sorrow through our minds until we can  no longer see the light. The period of mourning is one that all must go through. Yet, even in a dark world full of sexualized violence and hate, I’m thankful that my heart is continuously pulled towards universal love and gratefulness.

On this Thursday, our day of collective prayer for sexual healing, may we together remember those in pain while we remain thankful for the miraculous abundances–in form of food, friends, family, and breath–in our lives.
